MADE IN TAIWAN

Made in Taiwan explores the rhythms of everyday life within one of Asia’s most dynamic urban landscapes. Produced during a journey across Taipei, Kaohsiung and the interior of the island in 2006, the photographs observe a society where ancient traditions coexist with rapid industrial and technological transformation.

Moving through night markets, streets and domestic spaces, the images reveal the human presence behind objects and technologies that circulate globally under the label “Made in Taiwan”. Between luminous markets, quiet interiors and fleeting moments of encounter, the work traces fragments of a territory shaped simultaneously by culture, labor and urban density.

First exhibited in 2007 at the Taipei Cultural Center in São Paulo, the series reflects a photographic exploration of Taiwan at the intersection between everyday life and global production.
